AF 32® eco features a low micro-roughness of typically < 1 nanometer (RMS) and has a coefficient of thermal expansion of 3,2 x 10-6 that is very close to silicon. This property opens up a wide range of glass wafer applications in the semiconductor industry. AF 32® eco glass materials often are used for wafers in MEMS applications (micro-electro-mechanical systems).Likewise, in science and research, there are numerous optical applications for this thin glass. Our company manufactures alkali-free microscope slides, cover-slips, glass wafer components, and various optics for photonics research based on this high-quality material. About Cal.0100’s Design and Engineering
While a traditional tuning-fork-shaped quartz oscillator operates at 32,768 Hz, the AT-cut type quartz oscillator vibrates at a frequency of at 8.4 MHz (8,388,608 Hz), and requires a greater amount of electricity to operate. CITIZEN, as a pioneer of light-powered technology, was successful in creating an Eco-Drive movement incorporating its AT-cut quartz oscillator by applying its own power-saving technologies, which enables the Cal.0100 to run for six months on a full charge—even without the presence of light. To this end, CITIZEN was able to achieve an annual accuracy of ±1 second in an Eco-Drive movement, which establishes a new benchmark in watchmaking for the future. The black-colored Cal.0100 is visible on the back of the watch through the sapphire glass case. We provide empirical evidence for the existence of such an optimum, using measurements of in situ eddy covariance and satellite-derived proxies, and report its global distribution. $$T_{\mathrm{opt}}^{\mathrm{eco}}$$ is consistently lower than the physiological optimum temperature of leaf-level photosynthetic capacity, which typically exceeds 30 °C. The global average $$T_{\mathrm{opt}}^{\mathrm{eco}}$$ is estimated to be 23 ± 6 °C, with warmer regions having higher $$T_{\mathrm{opt}}^{\mathrm{eco}}$$ values than colder regions. In tropical forests in particular, $$T_{\mathrm{opt}}^{\mathrm{eco}}$$ is close to growing-season air temperature and is projected to fall below it under all scenarios of future climate, suggesting a limited safe operating space for these ecosystems under future warming.
